Screenshots you can still edit tomorrow.
Press ⌥⌘4, drag an area, and the shot waits in a corner as a thumbnail: copy it, drag it into any app, or open it to mark up with arrows, lines, boxes, highlights, blur and numbered steps. Every mark stays editable, so a screenshot reopens as a document, not a flat picture.
How it works

Press ⌥⌘4
Drag an area, or press Space to pick a window. ⌥⌘3 takes the whole display. Add ⌃ to copy to the clipboard instead.

Open it to mark up
Click the thumbnail's pencil or double-click it, then pick a tool, a colour and a size, and draw. Use Look to put it on a background with padding, corners and a shadow.

Copy or export
Copy Image (⇧⌘C) or Export… (⌘E) to a PNG. The screenshot stays editable in Projects › Screenshots.
What you can change
Each one is named the way it appears in Lumae.
- Thumbnail
- Copy (⌘C), Save (⌘S), drag into any app, Space for Quick Look, or the pencil to edit. Settings › General can open the editor straight away instead.
- Tools
- Select, Arrow, Line, Rectangle, Ellipse, Highlight, Spotlight, Blur, Text, Number and Crop, each with its own key.
- Colour
- Ten colours, remembered between captures.
- Size
- Small to Huge, for lines from 2 to 16 pt and text from 14 to 64 pt.
- Look
- Background, padding, corners and shadow, with your saved colours.
- Freeze the screen
- Off by default. Stops the screen while you choose, so a menu, a tooltip or a hover state is still there to capture.

Can Lumae replace the macOS screenshot shortcuts?
Yes. Turn off the macOS shortcuts, then choose Use ⇧⌘3, ⇧⌘4 and ⇧⌘5 in Settings › Shortcuts › Default Screenshot App.
Is a blurred area safe to share?
The PNG and the copied image are flattened, so the blur is baked in. The editable screenshot keeps the original under the mark, so share the export, not the project file.
Where are my screenshots kept?
In Projects › Screenshots, as editable files in ~/Movies/Lumae/Screenshots.
